Biography

I design surface finishes, with particular emphasis on the use of lime plaster and locally sourced pigments. The purpose of my Fellowship was to better understand how materials commonly used in building in the past can be used in practical ways in the present, and how these sustainable materials might be used in contemporary architecture.

Since my Fellowship I have been able to promote a better understanding of how traditional materials, such as lime and pigments, can be used in architecture today, through both teaching and giving talks. I have passed on the skills and knowledge gained through my Fellowship to younger practitioners. I am still in touch with some of the experts that I met through my Fellowship, and continue to exchange information with them about new developments in the field.
