New grants available to Churchill Fellows

New grants available to Churchill Fellows

We are delighted to announce that applications for our Activate Fund will open for a second round of grants on 11 February. The fund is exclusively open to Churchill Fellows and aims to support the impact they make in the UK with their Fellowship findings - a key priority for the Churchill Fellowship.

Our Activate Fund will allocate funding to support Fellows who are working towards accelerating projects that will transform the lives of people across the UK. Grants will range from £5,000 to £30,000 and will be awarded to projects with the greatest potential to have a lasting public benefit, whether locally, regionally or nationally.

This is the second round of a three-year pilot project. In the first year, it provided £101,000 in grants to seven Fellows working on crucial issues facing UK society - from combating homelessness to supporting women veterans.

Fellowship Support Manager Katie Baldock says, "The challenges that the UK currently faces need practical solutions. Churchill Fellows continue to inspire us in how they are tackling these issues, and with this second round of Activate funding we are thrilled to support them in transforming sectors and communities across the country."

The fund is open to Fellows in the first ten years after their travels, when they are turning their overseas research into UK impact.

We are particularly interested in applications that:

  • Demonstrate that the project will deliver social, cultural and/or economic benefits to improve the lives of people in the UK.
  • Demonstrate how the work is different to, improves on or adds value to what already exists within the field.
  • Demonstrate the potential to widen the benefit of the project beyond current beneficiaries.

Applications open on 11 February 2021 and the deadline for applying is 5pm on 23 March 2021. Later applications will not be considered.

All eligible Fellows have been contacted individually by email and sent an individual link to their own application form.
