Social mobility expert appointed as new trustee
We are delighted to announce the appointment of HR director Bharatti Crack to our board of Trustees. She will bring valuable insights and experience at a time of strategic renewal for the charity.
Bharatti has over 30 years’ experience of leading HR departments in the banking and telecomms sectors, including as an Equality and Diversity Manager. Currently she works as an HR consultant and is a mentor for the Social Mobility Foundation.
She says: “I am passionate about social mobility and feel strongly that it is through education that we can start to address social inequalities. Throughout my career I have been seen as a specialist in the area of diversity and inclusion. Working for international organisations, I have seen the differences of perspective and experience that bring a diversity not just of people but of thoughts and ideas to companies. For this reason, I am drawn to the aim of the Churchill Fellowship of international learning for ordinary people.”
Bharatti’s appointment is the result of our second open recruitment process for trustees. We had vacancies for two Trustees and wished to increase board diversity and also appoint a Fellow. We worked with Inclusive Boards, who specialise in diversity and inclusion at board level, and received over 70 applications. In March we appointed Maria Iredale (CF 2012), just before the lockdown interrupted our search. We are very pleased to have now concluded the search with the appointment of Bharatti.
