Tributes paid to former Director General of the Churchill Fellowship
Tributes have been paid to Air Vice-Marshal Nigel Sudborough, former Director General of the Churchill Fellowship who has passed away, aged 72.
Nigel held the position of Director General of the Churchill Fellowship between 2002-2007 and is associated with strengthening the Trust’s governance during his five years in post. He advanced the technological side of operations, encouraging the evolution of online Fellowship applications.
Julia Weston, the Churchill Fellowship’s Chief Executive says, “Nigel is widely credited with modernising the operations of the organisation, in particular moving online the application process for the hundreds of Fellowship applications received annually, an invaluable legacy allowing many more people to apply."
Prior to joining the Churchill Fellowship, Nigel had a successful military career in the Royal Air Force, achieving the rank of Air Vice-Marshal. Joining the RAF at age 18, Nigel’s 36-year career saw him awarded an OBE in 1988 and later Companion to the Military Division of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath (CB) in 2002.
Julia adds, “He continued to take an interest in the Fellowship long after he left, attending events locally and nationally. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.”
