Biography

I'm a paediatrician and epidemiologist working at the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. My passion lies in understanding the impact of brain injuries such as hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) on the lives of affected children and their families.

Leading the CHERuB study has given me first-hand insights into the challenges and unmet needs faced by HIE families across the UK. The stories and experiences shared by these families have been a powerful source of inspiration for my Fellowship.

My primary goal through this Fellowship is to delve deeper into the impact of HIE and to identify effective ways to support families and children throughout their HIE journey from birth, during their neonatal unit stay and beyond. Through collaboration with global experts and exposure to diverse perspectives, I aim to uncover innovative approaches and interventions that can make a significant difference to the lives of HIE children and their families. By expanding our collective understanding, I am confident that we can enhance the overall support and care provided to these families and children.
